To keep the content fresh, you will need to keep your finger on the pulse of your industry, as well as related topics, to find new topics. How To Promote Your Business Online - Stay Updated on the Latest Trends

This way, you can quickly jump on new trends as they become popular. You can use technology to help you with this, and maintain your online market domination. But technology is always evolving.

As such, there are always new developments in the dynamic world of digital marketing. Therefore, not only must you keep your finger on the pulse of your industry, you need to stay abreast of new technologies and new trends.

The following can help you with that:

  • Social Media
  • Blogs
  • Seminars & Webinars
  • Monitoring the Competition
  • Subscribing to RSS Feeds
  • Subscribing to Email Lists

Have you heard of Google Alerts? This is one of the great online tools to use to keep you on top of things that are happening either your own industry, or in a field relevant to yours. It can also help you learn digital marketing trends.

On Google Alert, you enter a search term. The service will then search for new content found on the Internet, and automatically sends you an email to alert you of the new articles.

This helps you to keep abreast of things so that you can share relevant information in a timely manner, and drive people to your website for relevant solutions.

Outsourcing: The Answer to Easy Implementation

How To Promote Your Business Online - Outsource so that you can focus on your core businessJust like any type of marketing, digital marketing is multi-faceted. It requires a great amount of work, and there is a very sharp and steep learning curve for those who have never done it before.

Plus, today’s marketing requires a much higher level of maintenance than was previously the case. Even Web 2.0 applications need constant monitoring and daily checks that can eat up lots of your precious time in your schedule.

It’s All About Time

There are many advantages to outsourcing your digital marketing. And they are as follows:

  • You can be assured that your digital marketing will be done with those who are trained, focused and skilled in this field
  • You will be saving a lot of time, your own time. Time that can be better spent on tasks that only you can perform, and can grow your business
  • If you implement those digital marketing initiatives on your own, you may have to learn how to do them, and then actually do them yourself. This takes time, and can slow the process, which will in turn produce slower results and sales.

When you outsource to experts who already have the experience, the initiatives can be completed more quickly and efficiently. Thereby produce faster results, and effect a quicker change in your sales.

As a business owner, you should be spending your time doing the things that are necessary to be successful. You are the master of your domain, and you know what you are doing in your own field of expertise.

To learn and master Digital Marketing techniques will take away extraordinary amounts of precious time from you. And this does not make sense.

What does make sense is for you to continue doing the things you know how to do well. And that is to make your business grow and be successful. Let those who are masters in Digital Marketing to take care of that are for you. Your time and resources will be well spent, and this makes business sense. How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get Your Website First Page On Google

Now, if you were to try to do this yourself, where would your business website rank in say, a month? Which part of the process would you be at with regards to implementing your digital marketing plan? Would you still be learning?

Perhaps something else has taken precedence in your core role, and this has been delayed? Do you even have the time to devote yourself to this?

Choosing the Right Subcontractor

How To Promote Your Business Online - Hire a Digital Marketing ConsultantWhen you finally decide to outsource your digital marketing, take the time to find the right digital marketing firm. You can begin by deciding what you want done for you and what you plan to do yourself. But why not let your vendor do it all?

It is also a good idea to find a digital marketing firm with experts who are authorities in the field. A good choice would be a digital marketing firm who appears at the top of natural local searches. After all, a firm that manages to get there is proof they can do the same for you.

Also a good choice is a firm with key individuals who may have made presentations to business groups on the topic of Digital Marketing. If a digital marketing firm appears everywhere, including in the top several positions in the natural search results, you can feel confident that they are a leader in the field, and a good choice for you.

Options in Outsourcing

A digital marketing firm usually offers all or some of the services described above. Some may specialize in one area, while others offer all digital marketing services.

You must determine which tasks you would like to outsource to a digital marketing firm, and which you may want an employee to do. Or perhaps you would like the digital marketing firm to do it all.

Before deciding, perhaps you should take a look at what services the digital marketing firm offers, especially what they can tailor specially for your own needs.

Here are some examples of what digital marketing firms offer:

A La Carte

If you have a good knowledge of some of the areas of digital marketing, and would like to do some of it in-house, then this option is ideal for you.

Package Deals

This is the perfect solution for the busy local businessperson. You do not have the time or interest to learn all the nitty gritty details of digital marketing. And it is wiser to let a digital marketing do it all for you.

After all, they know their stuff. This option requires no learning curve, and the implementation of all the different elements of digital marketing is quicker. All you need to do is prepare for lots of new business.

Continuity Programs

With the purchase of a continuity program, you have a digital marketing firm on retainer. This is a program where they implement new marketing strategies monthly over a fixed period of time. Or they implement strategies at the beginning and simply maintain them over a given period of time.

Conclusion

Your digital marketing strategy should be to get more potential customers to your business website, and convert them into paying customers. It is really that simple.

And you can achieve this by using a wide variety of digital marketing techniques to target those customers, and make sure they find your business when they search online for products and/or services that you provide.

When they find your business on the Internet, whether directly to your website or on your social networks, you would have a myriad of digital marketing tools ready to convert them into buying customers.

In order to do this effectively, most of your focus will be on two major aspects of your marketing plan:

1. Using keywords in all online content,

2. And creating as many links as possible to your business website.

The more backlinks you have, the better your site will place in search engine results, and the more people will find your website. The more effectively you use keywords, the more search engine friendly your content is and, therefore, more likely to be ranked.

Naturally, when you get more visitors to your business website, you have the opportunity to convert them into new customers. And this means a rise in the number of new customers.

New customers mean an increase in sales and profit. This is what I meant when I mentioned earlier that digital marketing has the potential for exponential growth for your business.

Techniques to Increase Your Business’ Profits

Your goal, for including digital marketing strategies, is to increase your profits. How To Promote Your Business Online - Let Your Profits Soar with Digital MarketingIt doesn’t matter if you are just starting out, or have suffered a downturn, or striving to build your business to a higher level. Increasing profits is your goal.

Here are four basic ways that can help you improve your profits, using digital marketing:

1. Increase Customers

a. By increasing traffic.

b. By using PPC, SEP, local business results, article marketing, etc.

c. By adding product offerings to make them more compelling.

2. Increase the number of transactions per customer

a. By building a mailing list.

b. By offering them upsell opportunities.

c. By increasing customer communications through autoresponders, newsletters, broadcast messages, etc.

d. By sending out reminders; e.g. specials.

3. Increase the average amount per transaction

a. By offering bundle packages and upgrades. (strong reasons to purchase)

4. Decrease costs, finding free traffic, lowering cost per click

a. By increasing conversions, and decreasing costs.

b. By offering a bonus, changing a headline, or offering a free consultation.

When putting a digital marketing plan in place, and following through with it, you can achieve all of these goals. You can easily improve your profits through the strategic use of digital marketing techniques that will increase customers, increase the number of transactions per customer, increase the average amount per transaction and decrease costs, while, at the same time, finding free traffic.

All of which leads to a lower cost per click.

Do take the time today to find out if your website and all other online properties are doing all they can to attract new customers for you. If they are not, or doing it too slowly or the number of new customers are too few, apply all that has been shared in this online series, especially start putting in place a simple digital marketing plan. And implement it on your own, or with the help of a professional digital marketing firm.

Go and get started now! Rescue your business with your new digital marketing plan!

Adding Testimonials Creates Validity and More

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Testimonials are signs of approval from your clients

Testimonials are excellent for building consumer confidence in your products and/or services. New customers feel more confident about their decision to purchase from you if you have testimonials on your site. They get the impression that they are a part of a group and that they are not just another sale.

Your brand is validated when visitors to your business website witness actual clients advocating and singing praises about your products and/or services. When they see how others are putting your products to good use or how much they enjoy your services, they too will understand how it can benefit them, too.

Most of the time, testimonials are in the form of text with accompany pictures of the client’s logo, or of the client themselves. Exceptionally powerful are video testimonials. They appeal to everyone, especially those who don’t have the time to read paragraphs of text. They also create a type of social proof that helps your personal branding.

You can have videos of clients using your products and/or services while praising it. To get these video testimonials from clients, encourage them to talk about the way your product and/or service has helped them solve their problem.

In every testimonial, you must include (at least) the following:

  • Customer’s Name and Title
  • Location
  • Credentials

Here are some tips for the use of testimonials:

  • Get testimonials from both genders, unless your product and/or service is gender-specific
  • Have some diversity in the demographics for your testimonials; for example age, ethnicity, etc
  • Get testimonials from various areas; if your product and/or service is used in a variety of different ways or industries.

Remember to always get permission from the person to use their testimonial before publishing it. Keep a copy of the permission for reference.

Report Generation, Testing and Tracking

This is a very important part of your digital marketing plan, and especially of your business. As you implement each digital marketing task, you need to test and track the performance of each digital marketing effort. How to Promote A Business Online - Reports provide insights to how you can improve your digital marketing efforts

This is to help you see clearly what’s working and what is not. Only then will you be able to make the informed decision to do more of what is working, and less of what is not working.

You will grow faster at lower cost. In fact, prior to implementation of your digital marketing plan, you should take the time to test and track so that you have a baseline to compare against.

Report generation of what has been tested and tracked should be done regularly so as to stay on top of the performance of your digital marketing plan. It should be done at least quarterly.

There are many types of data available. So many to consider, and can be sometimes quite confusing. To make things easier for you, I have listed a few types of data that can help you in your analysis of your digital marketing here:

Rankings

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get Your Website First Page On GoogleYou need to track your business website rankings for the different keywords. This will tell you where each keyword ranks. By knowing this, you have a better idea of ranking possibilities for the content you put out there using that keyword.

You can also use rank checker tools to assist you with tracking rankings for keywords. If possible, it is a good idea to check the rankings for keywords of your competitors.

Links and Backlinks

When you are testing the backlinks of your business website to make sure How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Back Links Can Help Improve Your Website's Ranking on Search Resultsthey are actually working, you should also find out where the links are coming from. You should track how many backlinks there are, and how many are recognized by Google.

Do the same for your competitors, especially those who already have a good degree of online domination. You can learn from them, and get ideas where you need to link from. To facilitate the process, use link and backlink tracking tools.

Traffic Sources, and Volume

You need to track and optimize traffic sources and volume. This data can tell you where your visitors are coming from, and the number of visitors you are getting from each source.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Understand Your Website's Traffic with tools like Google AnalyticsIt is important to know if a visitor is a direct visitor, or is he or she referred from natural search engine results, or referred from other sites, or referred through paid search engine ads. This type of tracking will also reveal the keywords that are working, that are getting visitors to drop by your business website.

There are traffic tracking tools available for this; such as Google Analytics.

Visitor Data

This is another data set that needs to be tested, tracked and optimized regularly. The reasons are many; you want to know where they are located, what browsers they use, the type of operating system they use, the type of devices they use, the connection speeds, and if they are new visitors or repeat visitors.

This will help you create the best visitor experience possible for your guests. Also, it will help you tweak your digital marketing plan to suit their needs.

Visitor Actions and Behavior

This is valuable information that can tell you how well your business website, landing pages and other content are working for you. This is because you will discover stuff like which page did your visitor arrived at, and from which page did they exit?

You can also find out how long they stayed on your site? Information such as these can help you think of your visitor’s motivation; For example, why did they leave from that particular page? Did they find what they were looking for? How can you entice them to stay longer at your site?

Take note of the links that gets you the most click-through traffic. This will help you find out what information attracts your visitors the most.

One of the most important features of tracking visitor behavior is what is sometimes termed as ‘the final click’. What did they actually do at your business website? Did they take action, and made a purchase? There are a variety of technologies that allow you to track such information.

By regularly testing and tracking, by collecting important data, you will gather valuable information, you will be equipped to optimize your digital marketing plan, and get the best results possible. You will finally know what is working well, and what is not.

That which is not working well can be removed or tweaked. It is by your discernment of what the data actually means that you can make these changes; for example change of content or site adjustments.

All this can help you improve your business by getting the right people to your business website, and eventually convert them from leads to sales.

Additional Traffic Strategies

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Cast Your Net Wide to More Capture TrafficFishermen cast a wide net over a large area in order to catch as many fishes as possible. It is the same with your traffic strategies. Use a wide variety of them, and you will give yourself a higher chance of attracting a large number of prospective clients to your business website.

Besides the techniques mentioned above, here are a few more to help you drive traffic to your business website.

Classified Ads

You can easily drive traffic to your business website by placing carefully created online classified ads. Many of these sites are free of charge; for example Craigslist.

It is easy to place these ads. Just put an advertisement in the sections or categories that best fit the products and/or services that your business provides. Many of these online classified ads websites allow you to place links directly back to your business website. The sheer volume of traffic on such sites will enable people to find your business more readily.

Get maximum mileage from your online classified ads by creating links to your ad using social bookmarking sites and other social networking sites. Doing so will create additional backlinks to your ad that will get it ranked higher in the search engines.

As mentioned before, and mentioned here again, any content that is ranked in the search engines is excellent news for your digital marketing.

As always, just like all your other online content, ensure that your online classified ads are search engine friendly. Again, use keywords correctly and accurately.

Avoid stuffing them into your ads. You should place these ads monthly to stay current in the search engines. Vary the content to keep it fresh. Add seasonal specials when appropriate.

Local Online Discussion Forums

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Forums can be a great way to create awareness of your product or serviceParticipating actively in local online discussion forums can be another way to reach even more potential new customers. Online discussion forums are where people discuss topics of interest and issues. Many seek out these forums for information to a need they currently have, or solutions to problems that they are facing.

By participating in the discussions, you can offer your products and/or services as solutions. It is also an arena where you can find out what people are unable to find or what is not being offered to them.

This is a great way to do research. The findings can help you refine your products and/or services that you are offering, and bridge any gaps so that you can meet the needs of those who want to buy from you.

It’s easy to find these local forums. Just do a search for them, and particularly seek those related to your industry. You will need to create an account and profile, which is usually free. When possible, include information about your business, including a link to your business website.

Here are some tips for optimal use of local online discussion forums as part of your digital marketing strategy:

  • First, pay close attention to the forum rules. You don’t want to break any, and be blacklisted
  • Most forums frown on blatant advertising. Do not do this
  • Once you understand the above two points, you can start conversations or contribute to threads in a relevant way
  • Use an anchor text keyword in your signature
  • ‘How to’ articles are good posting content for forums. Use them!

Post regularly to take advantage of benefits such as multiple backlinks that are generated from each post. It is ideal to do it weekly, if possible. If not, at least do it once a month.

Audio Marketing

Audio is ‘eyes free’ content that can be consumed while a listener is doing How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Audio Marketing is another excellent way to Promote Your Business Onlineother things such as driving, exercising, or eating. With Audio Marketing, you can draw the listener into the content you are delivering on your business website, or attract them to your business website from a podcast.

You can use audio to do the following:

  • Introduce your products and services
  • Offer tips on how to use your products and services
  • Give instructions
  • Repurpose radio commercials
  • Read blog posts or expert articles
  • Present the owner of the business
  • Present testimonials – an effective way of building trust with potential customers
  • Make a ‘call to action’

Offsite audio can be used to drive traffic to your business website, and help with the personal branding of your business. It can project you as a true expert in the field that your business is in. This is achieved by recording a message with expert tips, and link it back to your business website.

Offsite audio also provides backlinks to your site. This counts as content that can help your site’s ranking in search engines. Thus, it is in your best interest to put offsite audios on podcasts, online radio shows, or other forms of distribution.

You should create a title, for your audio, with your chosen keyword phrase when submitting your audio to various sites. Use the same keyword in the segment description.  There are many tools available that can help you facilitate the use of your audio in your digital marketing strategy.

Mobile Marketing

This is the era of mobile. And mobile marketing is the now and the future. If you are not implementing mobile marketing as part of your digital marketing strategy, you will be trailing behind. How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Mobile Marketing requires constant effort

Surveys have found that more and more people are spending time and getting engaged on mobile devices. In 2014, it was reported that two billion users are using their mobile devices to read emails, surf the Internet, shop online, play games, engage with friends via messaging services and social media, plus many more. In 2017, the number of mobile users has increased to an estimated 4.77 billion (data by Statista, 2017).

As you can see, this is becoming one of the most powerful ways to reach your target audience. Can you afford not to include mobile marketing as part of your digital marketing strategy?

Mobile Marketing is not just any strategy that you can just jump in, and do it. Just like any other form of advertising, if it is done poorly, you’ll meet with poor results. At worst, you may end up irritating your prospective and existing customers. But if you do it well, the results can be astonishing!

Currently, one reason mobile marketing is so effective is that the ‘open rate’ for text messages is nearly 100%. It would be nearly impossible to reach a success rate approaching anywhere near that figure with email marketing or direct mail.

There are some mobile marketing tactics that some businesses are witnessing success with now. They are as follows:

  • Instant win games
  • Free giveaways
  • Trivia contests and sweepstakes
  • Alerts about sales and deals
  • Polls
  • Graphics, photos and messages that are engaging

With mobile marketing, you can achieve the following:

  • Increase brand awareness
  • Draw customers into buying mode more consistently
  • Gather marketplace data (e.g. customer information) for marketing purposes

Just like all other digital marketing strategies, mobile marketing is also continually evolving. So you need to keep learning, keep staying on top of things, and follow the rules of the game so that you don’t inadvertently cause problems for your business.

When you submit the press release to online press release distribution sites, it has the opportunity to be picked up, and be published on other sites.

Needless to say, this helps increase traffic to your business website tremendously through valuable back links.

There are many reasons to produce a press release. Here are some of those reasons:

  • Product Launch, or launch of a new service or line
  • Milestone in the life of a company
  • Contests, promotional programs, special offers, sales of stock, sales related to holidays, etc
  • Special events, or involvement in major events
  • Receiving and award
  • Partnerships, reorganization of the company, creation of a new division, or hiring of a key employee
  • Expert opinions on subjects related to your industry
  • New or improved website
  • Environmentally friendly initiatives

Due to the fact that there are more stringent guidelines for the publication of press releases than for article or blog publications, people consider press releases more reliable. This builds trust and credibility for your company.

On the down side, if your press release does not comply with the required format and content guidelines, it will not get published. This too, adds to the fact that many readers tend to take information shared in a press release even more seriously than articles or blogs.

When noticed by people, press releases will have them talking about your business. This is word-of-mouth marketing. And it is a very powerful marketing strategy.

Press releases also get you noticed by search engines. So be sure to create press releases that are search engine-optimized. This will ensure web crawlers’ attention, and increase its appeal to them.

When you get published on sites that allow back links, your press release will further help direct traffic to your business website. As such, make sure that any call to action on your press release, for example a special offer or tease for more information, should also always generate more traffic, too.

Tip: Do your best to release one press release each month. While they need not be done as often as blogs or articles, by releasing at least one a month, you will set yourself apart from your competitors who do not do this so regularly.

Pay-Per-Click Campaigns

Many businesses have seen returns from Pay-Per-Click Campaigns, and have continued investing in this area of digital marketing. Like them, you may have recognized the value of such campaigns at finding potential customers. How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Pay Per Click Campaigns like this can increase brand awareness, drive traffic to your website and even convert visitors to customers

One of the major advantages in PPC Campaigns is the fact that in as short a time as within one day, you can have traffic actually coming to your business website.

Pay-Per-Click Campaigns can also be very costly, if you don’t know how to do it efficiently. They can actually be substantially downsized when effectively used strategically with an equally efficient and effective digital marketing plan, and when your business website is consistently at the top of search engine results. Thus reducing cost.

Still, PPC Campaigns are invaluable tools that you should continue to use, and continue to keep as part of your digital marketing strategy, especially for extremely competitive keyword searches.

The Right Keyword Research

The thing that will ensure resounding success for your PPC Campaigns is keyword research. In the Start With One-Time Tasks chapter, we emphasized on the importance of keyword research.

If you had done that correctly, you will have a list of keywords that people use when searching for products and services similar to those you provide. This includes very specific long-tail keywords.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Keywords to Get Your Website Ranked On First Page On GoogleThese keywords will be the ones not commonly used, and have the fewest PPC matches for them. This will ensure that when someone uses these keywords, you ad will appear at the top, and not lost somewhere amongst other ads.

Whether your PPC Campaign is a hit or miss, keyword research makes all the difference. PPC Campaign with keyword research really works, and has a high number of click-throughs, and a high rate of conversion to sales. Many businesses choose to have their PPC Campaigns professionally managed because it can often mean huge savings, and produce greater results.

Geo-Targeting Your Ads

This is a PPC option that not many business owners are aware of, or know very little about. It allows you to target your PPC ads to people in a specified area who are searching for a given term.

Suppose you are selling luggage, and when someone in your geographic area searches for a generic term like ‘luggage’, your ad will be shown in the search results due to your using geo-targeting. Someone who does the same generic search in another area will not see your ad.

This is possible only because search engines know where searchers are located. You can choose to target:

  • Actual Location
  • Narrow Geography such as Country, City, Town, or Neighborhood
  • IP Address.

Also, there are advantages to geo-targeting generic terms for you PPC ads. They are as follows:

  • Cheaper Click Rates
  • Faster Traffic Results
  • More Targeted Traffic
  • Lower Competition
  • Higher Conversion to Sales

You can also choose to implement PPC Campaigns on words with a location qualifier attached to them. Many people will actually include a location qualifier when searching online. How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Geo Targeting your ads is a great way to get better results and conversions

For example, they may search with ‘luggage Bangkok’. By using both the searcher’s actual location and a location qualifier, you will have the greatest possible success in your Pay-Per-Click Campaign.

The Importance of the Landing Page

A landing page is a page that people reaches after clicking a link. The link can be on your ad, in your article’s resource box, in a press release, displayed on a video, or mentioned in an audio.

The best designed landing pages are those that include a way for the visitor to exchange their contact information for a free report or something that is of value to them.

This makes the landing page a very important part of your digital marketing strategy, especially for Pay-Per-Click Campaigns. It is relevant to the ad that you have placed and should contain keywords related to the search.

You should have a different landing page for each PPC ad that you place. Do not cut corners on this. Also, include navigation links to other parts of your website for even better results in Google.

Content Network PPC Campaign

A Content Network is simply a network of websites that offer content in the form of text, audios, videos, slides, etc. As an advertiser, your ad will be shown alongside these content.

A major advantage of Content Network PPC Campaign is that you can contextualize your advertising. You can advertise on websites that related to yours.

This is very effective as most people spend time visiting their favorite websites. Content Network PPC Campaigns get your ads in front of these people when they visit these popular websites.

There is a huge number of websites in a content network. Content Network PPC Campaigns offer you the opportunity to tap into the traffic of each of these websites. In addition, you can be creative with multi-media advertisements on Content Network. You don’t have to just use text.

You can choose to use images, and even video!

Remember I mentioned earlier about Video Marketing being the next wave of marketing? Well, you can combine that power into your Content Network PPC Campaign!

Use videos to capture the attention of potential clients. Consider this option for your digital marketing plan.

Social Media and Social Networking

“Investment in Social Media Will Become a Necessity, Not a Luxury” – Forbes, 2013

The above was reported by Forbes in 2013, and since then this has proven true. The report said that social media will evolve from ‘should have’ to ‘must have’.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Social Media MarketingAlready, businesses are realizing that they need to integrate their social media efforts with their overall marketing strategy. Many businesses are seeing the impact of social media in terms of lead generation, referral traffic and increase in revenue.

The benefits of social media are many, and they include the following:

  • Create strong branding
  • Increase brand exposure and brand awareness
  • Improves social signals (which is a factor in search ranking algorithm)
  • Enhances buzz marketing; also known as word-of-mouth advertising
  • Increase customer loyalty and trust
  • Improve audience reach and influence

Of all the social media networks currently available, you should definitely be on Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Twitter at the very least. These social networks are very important digital marketing tools that can help businesses create a strong online presence.

However, to achieve that you need to post updates on each social network regularly. Some believe posts must be done daily. That is all right as it doesn’t hurt the brand, unless you are posting irrelevant topics.

For me, I believe in quality postings. And I find that, while it is all right to post daily initially, in time it is more efficient to post during times when most of your fans or followers are online. After all, it is best to fish in the area where and when there are most fishes, right?

After some time, after studying data analytics and insights, you may discover How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Analytics can help improve your digital marketing strategythat these optimum times could be just 3 to 4 times a week, these would be specific days and timings when a majority of your fans and followers are online, and watching your Facebook Page, Google+, Instagram or Twitter accounts.

Even then, it takes a lot of time and effort just to do research and find interesting and relevant topics to post. After all, you don’t just always post about your products and services. While people who are your fans and followers are interested in your products and services, they are also interested in news and information related to the field and industry your products and services are within.

And to gather a constant flow of such news and services, besides just information about your products and services, can be daunting. Don’t forget you need to do copywriting.

Don’t just share an online article without adding your own thoughts to it. Social media is about engaging people. You need to write copy that is interesting and engages your fans and followers. Especially when you want them to take action and lead them to your website or make a purchase.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Photos and videos brighten up a blog post, makes it more interesting, easier to consumeAlso, not all photos look great. So you will need to know a bit of digital imaging to make photos look good enough to capture your audience’s attention.

Remember, your posts will be on your fans and followers’ newsfeed. You need to catch their attention amongst all other postings on their newsfeed. And surveys have found that posts with photos or videos definitely capture people’s attention.

I know all this can be intimidating. Especially for those who are short on time and resources, or who isn’t a fan of social networking. But if you want your digital marketing strategy to be successful, you need to be on social media, and be regularly active on the aforementioned networks. An alternative is to outsource to a digital marketing expert or firm, which is a good idea as you can leverage on their expertise.

When building your social networks, be sure to also engage with your fans and followers. They will interact with you, and leave comments. Be sure to reply to their comments. Even if there are negative comments, do reply.

Take this opportunity to clarify points, convert people to customers, and build good PR and brand that will give a good impression to the public as well as your existing customers. You have an opportunity to build and develop a relationship that is becoming increasingly important to people when deciding who they choose to do business with.

There is another aspect of social media that many businesses often overlook. You can befriend other businesses that are complementary to yours. One of the advantages is that when you like or comment on a post on their social accounts, their fans and followers get to see it. This way, you have just increased brand exposure and awareness to another group of potential new customers.

Besides Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Twitter, here are a few more social media sites that you might like to consider:

  • Pinterest
  • YouTube
  • LinkedIn
  • Social Bookmarking Sites

Blogging

Many business websites have jumped on the blogging bandwagon. This is because they have realized that it is one of the most effective ways to get to the top of search engine results for chosen keywords.

Google and other search engines love such applications. They visit blogs often How to Promote Your Business Online? - Blogging is an essential part of promoting your business online. It is one of the Tasks That Repeatsto re-index the content found there.

Do consider having a blog on your business website. Blog regularly, and your site will get increasingly better results in search engines.

Blogging is one of the repeated tasks that does take up a lot of time, effort and resources. Yet, it is easier and faster to produce compared to articles and press releases. Blogs can be shorter than an article, and has fewer guidelines than a press release.

Do take note that you should apply SEO techniques for maximum effectiveness.

For example, you should focus on keywords, especially long-tail keywords. At the same time, be careful not to stuff keywords into the text. There should be a natural flow to the style of writing.

Also, write in a way that people will enjoy reading your blog, and will want to keep coming back to it. The best is when they like it so much that they subscribe to your RSS feed.

Here are some tips for blogging:

* Most Important Tip: Use keywords in the title, and in one or two paragraphs within the blog.

Keep your blog posts within 800 – 2,000 words

Of course, do not be too restricted by this tip. Write naturally, and let the length be how much it should be. This tip is just a guide.

Add Graphics, Photos and Videos when possible.

These days, people don’t like to read anything with too much text. They only do so when they are really interested, and wish to get more details.

Also, studies have discovered that people prefer blogs, articles and postings with photos, graphic images or videos. It attracts them to the blog, article or posting.

It is a break from the amount of text. It is interesting. A picture tells a thousand words. Plus, it encourages them to dive deeper and continue reading.

Schedule Posts Regularly.

Scheduling a post is very subjective. It all depends on the industry you are in. At the same time, it is ideal for your blog to have a new post on a regular basis.

Start with releasing a new post every 3 days. Monitor the response. Then try to post more often, and see if this schedule attracts more people.

Relevance

Your blog should be relevant to the latest news, happenings and events in the world. Especially if you are in an industry that follows trends, do keep up with it, and keep your blog trendy.

* Tip: Here is a Do Not. Don’t use your blog to rant about something. It is not your anger management tool or punching bag. Keep it professional. Keep it informative.

There are ways to draw and increase traffic to your business website using blogs. You can create more back links when you submit your offsite blog posts to social networking and social news sharing sites.

The Importance of Blog Comments

Your blog offers an opportunity to interact with your customers, and people interested in your product and/or service. Those who make comments are likely to be existing customers or potential customers.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Engage your customers when they give feedback via comments. Be professional - positive, polite, pleasant.Remember this is your business blog. Keep your responses professional, polite and friendly.

You must always answer all valid questions, reply to comments, and even respond to complaints. The way you handle negative comments and complaints speaks volumes to all watching and following your blog.

First thing to note – do not delete negative comments or complaints. They are also feedback from your customers, and you can learn a lot from these negative comments and complaints, which is very valuable. Your next big product or service could be waiting to be discovered in the feedback.

When people share with you the little things that bother them most about your product and/or service, or what they would like as an ideal addition to it, you are receiving free advice on how to create a new and improved version of your product and/or service, or invent a totally new one. This interaction allows you to garner valuable knowledge that can help your business grow.

Get active on other blogs, too. Comment on blogs that are related to your field, and leave your business website address to create more valuable back links.

But be careful.

There is a thin line here. Do not callously just make a comment in order to advertise for your business. It is frowned upon, and may even be deleted eventually. Write relevant and helpful comments. Leave your business website URL only in spaces provided.

Video Marketing

We live in a culture that grew up watching television shows. It has become a natural thing to do. We watch TV when we awake, we watch it when we come home from school or work, and we watch it on weekends.

It is no surprise that as the Internet bandwidth get wider, and video gets higher in resolution, watching videos on the Internet is gaining popularity. More and more people prefer to watch a video to get information rather than reading for it.

How to Promote Your Business Online? - Video Marketing is the Future

Hence, Video Marketing is the next wave in digital marketing.

It is an ideal method to get a message across to a large audience. More importantly, it is very cost effective, more so than advertising on print or TV. Plus, mass media often has a lot of wastage. Video Marketing can be a form of targeted marketing.

There are a wide variety of options when creating your video. One of which is to educate through the use of slides. It is just like a live presentation. The information is displayed like a slideshow while a narrator explains in further details.

As explained in the Blogging chapter, make good use of graphics and photos to give your video a great visual effect. Sometimes, sound effects and music can add that extra touch to your video, making it entertaining while being informative.

Another option is to use an actual video clip or edit video clips into an entire video. You may also consider combining the use of slides with video clips, too.
Video Marketing is very powerful. It allows you to:

  • Provide Information About Your Products and/or Services.
  • Give Instructions on How to Use Your Products.
  • Deal with Questions.
  • Share Expert Articles.
  • Do Demonstrations.
  • Offer Solutions to Common Problems.
  • Show Amazing ‘Before’ and ‘After’ Results.
  • Conduct Webinars.
  • Share Testimonials.
  • Show Company Overviews.
  • Give a Tour of Your Facilities.
  • Present the Owner of the Company in an Interview.

There are many more uses for video marketing. More importantly, it can meet a variety of marketing needs, such as:

  • Branding.
  • Public Relations.
  • Building Trust.
  • Use it to inform and/or educate people.
  • Use it to grab the attention of visitors, and have them explore your business website further.
  • A lot of people are busy, and always on the go. Hence, they have very little time to read mass amounts of text. They would rather watch a short video.
  • Use it offsite to grab searchers and redirect them to your business website or call your phone.
  • Use it to get rankings for multiple keywords.
  • Use it to spice up external landing pages, and Web 2.0 digital properties.

It is not that complicated to create quality video. But it does require a lot of time, and some knowledge. Do consider a video production company, or have your digital marketing firm add this as part of your digital marketing strategy. This way, you can save time and focus on your business while leveraging on their expertise.

How To Promote A Business Online? – Tasks That Repeat – Part Seven A

In Part 6 of this How To Promote A Business Online series, we talked about One-Time Tasks. Once those tasks are done, you can commence on the next phase; that is start on the Tasks That Repeat. These will become a regular part of your routine where some are done every month, some every fortnight, some a couple of times a week, and some daily. There may be a few that needs to be done less often, too.

Here is the list of tasks that you will need to do repeatedly, in order to build your digital presence, and drive as much traffic as possible to your business website:

  • Local SEO
  • Natural SEOHow To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat 1
  • Directory Submission
  • Web 2.0
  • Social Media
  • Blogging
  • Video Marketing
  • Mobile Marketing
  • Article Marketing
  • Press Releases
  • Pay-Per-Click campaigns
  • Adding Testimonials
  • Testing and Tracking
  • Report Generation

Dealing with Tasks that Repeat

There are various ways to deal with these tasks that repeat. One of the ways is for you to do them yourself. Another is to delegate to one of your staff.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get Digital Marketing Expert to do the job - Digital Marketing Consultant Singapore TimotheusThe best way is actually to subcontract them to a third party who specializes in digital marketing. By hiring experts in this field, you can tap on their expertise. This is especially useful and time saving since this is digital marketing is constantly evolving.

The experts will naturally be always on their toes, and be always updated. This takes up a lot of time and effort. You or your staff may not have the time and resources to be continually updated, unless your staff is specially hired for this role.

Even then, it is quite a monumental amount of work for one person to be constantly at the pulse of all things digital while doing all the tasks required. Leave it to the experts, I say. Most digital marketing consultants or firms can offer you an à la carte option, or a package covering all your online marketing needs.

Scheduling the Tasks that Repeat

While I advocate hiring a digital marketing consultant or firm to do the repeated tasks, I do understand there may be budget constrains for some smaller businesses. As such, when you choose to do the repeated tasks yourself, it is best you learn the digital marketing strategies of each task. Also, you need to plan each task into your work week, with some scheduled fortnightly, monthly and maybe even quarterly. How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Schedule The Tasks

Doing these tasks regularly and consistently is vital to the success of your digital marketing plan. I highly recommend that you add each repeated task into your calendar, perhaps with reminders. This will ensure the tasks are done with the frequency that is necessary.

Local SEO and Natural SEO

There can never be enough emphasis on how important Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is vital to the implementation of your digital marketing plan. The concept was introduced in 6 Things You Should Be Doing chapter, to get your digital marketing plan started successfully.

And now, to maintain that success, to keep your local business results and your natural search results ranked high, you must constantly monitor and update this.

Local Business Results

Local business results can impact your business significantly. More traffic will flow to your business website. And as a result, your phone will start ringing more frequently, bringing more business to you.

I have clients who bemoan that their phones hardly ring, even after months of setting up their businesses. Little did they know that they need to be listed in the local business results. It is because their phone number will be listed in the same local business results.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get Your Website First Page On GoogleOnce their business is successfully located at the top of these results, people will start calling, inquiring with interest to make a purchase from them. The same can happen for you when you do the same strategy.

And what is this marketing strategy? It is simple. Just submit your business details to the three major local business results sites. When you secure top spots on these sites, do monitor and update your listings regularly, and make sure they are search engine-optimized.

Here are the three major local business results sites that you must be on:

Google My Business

This is, without a doubt, the most important local business result site to be on. Google owns slightly more than two-thirds of online traffic. Hence, being on Google My Business is vital to your success.

Bing

Bing was launched in May 2009 as a fundamental upgrade from Microsoft’s previous efforts into search – MSN Search. It is growing in importance, and hence secures its place as the second major local business results site that businesses must consider.

Yahoo

Once upon a time, Yahoo was a major player in the search field. It has since declined, but still maintained its position as one of the top three major local business results sites.

Follow these 7 essential tips to put your business in the top 10 search results:

1.   Optimize every aspect of your listing with strategic keywords.

2.   Reviews can raise your site’s ranking. Get reviews from your clients.

3.   Acquire back links from local online directories.

4.   Strategically choose the areas you want optimized, even if you need to establish different addresses and phone numbers for other areas.

5.   Always get listed in 4 to 5 categories related to your business.

6.   People love deals. So place coupons with the listings in order to increase conversion rates.

7.   This is a little known trade secret – when naming your YouTube videos and photos, use your keywords in the title.

Local business results pick up on select keywords, and use different local How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Keywords to Get Your Website Ranked On First Page On Googlemodifiers when ranking listings. The challenge is that most listings will include address, phone number, maps and directions to your physical address, website address, and customer reviews.

So what will improve your chances of higher rankings? It is customer reviews. Listings with the best reviews containing targeted keywords, in addition to location modifiers, will find their way to the top of the search results.

It is not enough to be listed on the three major local business results sites mentioned above. You should seek out other directory listings, and be on them, too.

Regularly track any changes in your business, and update your listings so that they remain relevant and consistent with your website and other online collateral. It will also help you monitor what works, and what doesn’t.

Also, be patient. This is not something that can happen overnight. Give it 3 to 4 weeks for the results you desire.

Natural Results

Natural results are basically results that you do not pay for. They are generated by search engines, and often referred to as organic results.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get Your Website First Page On GoogleThey are typically placed below local searches with map, and paid search results. Most people would consider these to be the most valid type of search results.

It is possible to achieve a variety of listings in the natural results. To be included in natural results, you must have relevant content, especially content that has been search engine-optimized.

Search engine rankings can include the following:

  • Your Main Business Website
  • Social Media Content
  • Social Bookmarks
  • Directory Listings
  • Articles
  • Blog Posts
  • Videos
  • Press Releases
  • Other Web 2.0 content
  • Landing Pages

As mentioned before, keyword research is vital to the success of your business website, especially ranking in the natural results of search engines. So do not take this step lightly. Remember, relevance of your content is essential to placement.

Here are the other ranking factors that can cause an impact on your rankings:

  • Keywords in Content.
  • Keywords in Page Links.
  • Congruency and Consistency in Content.
  • Back links.
  • Links Pointing Back to Your Business Website or Content.
  • Google Page Rank.

When you are able to get more back links to your business website, you will get higher ranking in search results. So do get links to your site from local directories, blogs, article marketing, social bookmarks, and video marketing.

In fact, good relevant content, with keywords and back links can assure you of being at the top of many categories within a given period of time.

Directory Submission

Links are one of the keys to getting listed high in search engine results. Focus on getting your business website listed in as many places as possible.

One of the excellent places to list is on directories. Directory submissions get How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get Listed on Directoriesyour business website’s link out there. Do not let naysayers tell you that business directories are outdated. They still have great value in getting back links to your website.

When you get listed in directories, you validate your company’s existence for search engines. This creates back links and citations that help the search engines index your company.

==> CLICK HERE for List of Directories to get listed on for FREE <==

Newer directories with Web 2.0 capabilities, such as adding reviews, results in creating even more content for a site. This means better natural search results and local search results for your business.

Your presence in relevant directories will get you near the top of results. As a result, your website traffic and phone inquiries will increase. This is why directory submissions are a solid part of any digital marketing plan.

But be wary when someone offers you a directory submission service that submits to hundreds or thousands of directories. These services most probably submit to low quality directories that Google frown upon.

What you want is to submit manually (either by you or a true digital marketing expert) to a handful of good web directories that have a real human reviewing each submission. Most directories are free of charge. Some may have a fee associated with them. If it is a reputable and powerful directory, it is definitely worth the investment.

Directories that you should submit to are as follows:

  • Major Directory; for example Yahoo Directory where Google crawls all the time.
  • Local Directories, and Specific Group Directories.
  • Industry Specific and Niche Directories.
  • Phone Listing Directories.
  • Review Directories. These directories serve a variety of purposes, such as:
    • Back links
    • Reviews
    • Local Rankings
    • Building Customer Trust
    • Citations

This is becoming one of the most important reasons to have your business in Review Directories. It is a 3rd-party endorsement of your business, and is a vote of confidence that Google can rely on in order to place your business at the top of search results.

Citations also create credibility in the eyes of search engines. In other words, the more citations you have, that are linked from other reputable sites, the better for you.

The Importance of Web 2.0

Web 2.0 refers to applications on the Internet that allow users to interact. Social networks, video sharing sites, wikis and blogs are some examples of the more commonly used Web 2.0 applications.

How To Promote Your Business Online - Tasks That Repeat - Get on Web 2.0Businesses use them as an effective part of a digital marketing campaign. In fact, because of the interactivity of these types of applications, many companies use them as an excellent resource for feedback.

The feedback received offers a wealth of opportunities:

  • Comments and suggestions from customers is very important feedback. It offers you insights to your products and/or services that otherwise is almost impossible to get, or will cost a lot to acquire. With the feedback received, you can tweak your products, improve your service, and better serve your customers. You can now be on target with their needs.
  • Testimonials received by customers can help you build credibility and trust. When others see these testimonials, they are more likely to buy from you.
  • Complaints are opportunities. Deal with them with patience, goodwill and professionalism. As you do so, you strengthen your brand and your reputation for good customer service.

Another usefulness of these Web 2.0 applications, a major one that drives traffic to your business website, is to create back links to your site. To that end, you will need to make comments on these sites, with links back to your own sites.

You will also need to create and update your own blog, videos, and social network identities so that you can share useful information to potential customers. Fans and followers can then easily share all this with others. You are now opening your business to explosive massive growth.

When embarking on any writing on the Internet, remember to use keywords strategically in your content, and keep it search engine-optimized. Again, this will ensure that you get the best ranking possible in relevant searches.

Currently Google, the leading search engine worldwide, loves Web 2.0 content such as:

  • Videos
  • Articles
  • Press Releases
  • Hub Pages
  • Squidoo

Therefore, careful use of search engine-optimized content on these sites will help give you the ranking you want in the search engines.

How To Promote A Business Online - Start With Lead Capture Systems

Add a Lead Capture System to Your Website

Driving traffic to your business website alone is not enough. You mustn’t be a passive participant who waits for people to contact you and purchase your product and/or service.

You need to take control of the communication process by adding a lead capture system to your business website.

A lead capture system enables you to have the opportunity to acquire the names and contact information of those who visit your business website. You know what this means, right? Now, you can capture information of potential customers, build it into a database, and market your products and/or services to them!

Effectively, you have created a database of sales leads. This is something tangible to work from to get more sales. I am sure you can see the value of having a lead capture system by now.

Lead Capture Systems Defined

A lead capture system comprises an opt-in online form on a web page where visitors can enter a name and an email address in exchange for more information; for example a free report, free audio, free online video or free eBook. Sometimes it is simply to subscribe for e-newsletter to be updated on latest news of a product or service.

Some lead capture systems may ask for more details such as a mailing address and/or a phone number. When setting up a lead capture system, try to refrain from asking the visitor to provide too much information. It will turn people off, and reduce the likelihood of them completing the sign-up form, or worse they won’t submit it.

Those who visit your business website, and opted in to be on your email list have actually indicated to you that they are interested in your products and/or services. You can be confident that these leads will mostly likely be your future customers.

After setting up the lead capture system on your business website, you need to nurture the leads that eventually end up in your database. You must keep regular contact with these people, and you can do this by sending them newsletters regularly, keep them updated on new sales and offerings, make them feel special by offering unique deals only for those who are in your email list (a good way to generate business when sales is slow).

The entire lead capture system requires not just an opt-in form. As part of an entire process, you need to do some of the items mentioned in the 6 Things You Should Be Doing chapter. For one, you need to have autoresponders in place. This is so that when people sign up, the autoresponder will automatically send them a greeting, a welcome email to acknowledge their inclusion in your email list.

In that same welcome email, take the opportunity to introduce a little more about your products and/or services. Over time, with regular e-newsletters, you can feed more information about your products and/or services so as to encourage them to make a purchase.

As you build your email list, and market your products and/or services to them regularly, with useful information, you will enjoy the power of a larger customer base, and be able to generate cash on demand.

Building an Email List

Most large businesses recognize the value of email lists. And lately, more and more small and medium businesses are beginning to realize the benefits of having an email list, too. Here are the advantages to having an email list:

Multiple Selling Opportunities

Without a lead capture system, visitors to your business website may just leave without buying anything, and they may be gone for good, too. At least, with a lead capture system, you will still be able to maintain contact with them. This way, you have lots of opportunities to sell your products and services to that visitor in the future.

Selling to Existing Customers

Your existing customers should be on your email list. If they are not, you should make sure they are. Then have some form of indication in your database to show that they are your existing customers. Every now and then, create special offers and promotions to your loyal customers, to induce further sales.

Referral Opportunities

With an email list, you can write to them and ask for referrals. Chances are you will most probably get it.

Deals and Offers

People love specials, deals, offers and sales. So when the time is right, send these out to your email list. It is known that during festive season, people are more in a buying mood. And sales usually go up during these times. So take note of all festive seasons, where you are at, and send out that holiday special in a timely fashion.

Branding and Image

Communicate regularly to your email list, especially with useful information that positions you as an expert in the field. Again, building a brand and image creates trust. And with trust, people are more willing to buy from you.

As you can see, effective use of your email list can help your business to thrive, and you will be able to see growth in your sales.

How To Promote A Business Online - Start With Personal Branding

Making Personal Branding Changes

Strong branding can establish you as a trusted expert in that field, in your local market. Figure out the kind of feel you would like your website, and all other online property where you have a presence, to have. They should reflect who you are, and what your brand is.

By tapping into the unique resources the Internet has to offer, you can have strong branding. You can increase traffic to your business website, and create more buying customers, too.

Today, the people who surf the Internet are a sophisticated audience. Compared to the past, they are savvy, and wary of things marketers throw at them. Most will conduct some form of research before making purchases. Their attention spans are relatively short, and they make quick decisions.

More and more of them are comfortable with buying things online, especially the younger generation. Of course, often they buy from brands they trust. When they come across your business website, you would want that trust from them, or at least build that trust with them.

As such, you must show them who you are, what your company is all about, your commitment to service, and most importantly, your trustworthiness.

The right and accurate content on your business website can help you build that trust, and your brand. It can reassure these people that you are able to offer them the right products and services with good quality.

These days, especially with the advent of social media, people want to get up close and personal with businesses. You should do the same. Get to know the people who are interested in your products and/or services. Engage them, and let them know who they are doing business with.

Unless the field in which your business is in requires it, try to stay away from the ‘stuffy’ corporate type of website or any online presence that you have. Some tweaks to your business website can give that impression, and help increase sales for you.

Here are some of the things that you can include on your business website to help you create that special personal touch:

    • Photographs of the owner (you) and your staff, plus information about them.
    • Expert articles that you have written.
    • Professional Associations.
    • Business Groups that you are a member of.
    • References from other businesses.
    • Audio or video message from the owner (again, that’s you)
    • Audio or video testimonial from clients.

As mentioned earlier, you and your business need to be perceived as friendly, not stuffy. Take some time to invest in personal branding. You will discover that it is worth it as it will attract more and more buying customers. Also, you can gain the trust you needed to be successful in the online marketplace.

How To Promote A Business Online? – Start With One-Time Tasks – Part Six-A

How To Promote A Business Online - Start With One Time Tasks

How To Promote A Business Online? – Start With One-Time Tasks – Part Six-A

Now that you have created your Simple Digital Marketing Plan, the entire project may seem rather daunting. Do not feel overwhelmed. There is a way to approach this that will make you feel at ease.

Take a good look at the list of digital marketing tasks. Many of the items on that list are important and can make a difference to your digital marketing strategy. Some are ongoing tasks, and some are just one-time tasks.

Start with these one-time tasks:

1.   Identify and find your ideal customers.

2.   Do detailed keyword research.

3.   Do onsite Search Engine Optimization updates.

4.   Add a lead capture system to your business website.

5.   Complete personal branding changes.

These tasks are the foundation of your digital marketing plan. They are essential for increasing your online presence. Without them, many of your other digital marketing strategies may fail.

Similarly, they must work together with your other digital marketing strategies. If you only do these tasks, there is no guarantee your business website will rise to the top of search results, or even on the first page of it.

So it is very important for you to take note that you cannot simply do only these one-time tasks, and then stop. You need to do the other tasks, too. To help you and to make sure you do that, set yourself a deadline for the completion of these tasks. Then once all have been completed, move on to the other digital marketing tasks.

How To Promote A Business Online - Start With Finding Your Target Audience

Identify And Find Your Ideal Customers

In the previous chapter, Your Simple Digital Marketing Plan, we discussed about this. All you have to do is to sit down, and think of who your target audience is. Consider the following:

    • Who uses your product or service?
    • What need do they fulfill when they purchase your product or service?
    • What is the motivation to buy? For example, are you adding pleasure or removing pain?
    • Who is the decision maker that says the final yes or no to the purchase of your product or service?
    • What is their gender?
    • What is their income?
    • What is their occupation?
    • Where are they located?
    • When do they buy your product or service?
    • What other interests do they have?
    • Do they have any concerns about products and services like yours?
    • Why should they buy from you rather than your competitor?
    • How do they like to be communicate with?

These are just some examples of questions that can help you identify and find your ideal customers. Feel free to add more questions that can help you achieve that.

How To Promote A Business Online - Start With Doing Detailed Keyword Research

Doing Detailed Keyword Research

Carrying out detailed keyword research goes hand in hand with identifying and finding your ideal customers. After discovering who your ideal customers are, you need to find them, lead them to your business website, and successfully convert them into actual paying clients.

Remember, they are prospects until they buy your product and/or service. Then they become your actual customer.

Detailed keyword research is typically a one-time task that should be done at the beginning of your digital marketing campaign. I say ‘typically’ because there are sites that require ongoing keyword research. For example, an ECommerce site that is always adding new products will require keyword research for every new product.

But for most, this can be a one-time task. My advice is to delegate this to a keyword research specialist for they are very good at this job, and can yield extremely effective results.

The Necessity of Keyword Research

In the past, you may have been stumbling around in the dark, wondering what your potential clients are searching for and what words and phrases they use in search when they look for similar products and/or services like what you have to offer. Keyword research is like turning on the light.

When you do keyword research, you will no longer guess, but you will know exactly what words and phrases people use when they look for products and/or services like your products and/or services.

Fortunately, this is a task that needs to be done once. It is repeated only when you have a new line of products or services to offer, or when you open a new division of your company. You get the gist, basically when your products and/or services are affected by changes.

To find out what are the keywords that people use to find products, services or businesses in your field, you need to ask yourself the following questions:

How Will People Search For You?

Ask yourself these questions:

    • What types of phrasing do you think your potential customers will use when searching for you?
    • Will they look for an occupation, a type of business, an industry, a type of solution, or perhaps even a product or service type?
    • Will they use geographic modifiers such as a city, a country, or even a region? What about motivation?

Some people are motivated by certain factors to search for a particular product or service, and it can come through in their search by using specific words such as ’24 hour’.

Here are some examples for your three considerations:

Specific person:

“Plumber”, “plumbing contractor”, etc.

Geographic modifiers:

“plumber Singapore”, “plumber Kowloon”, “plumber Budapest”, etc.

Motivation levels:

“emergency plumber Taipei”, “24 hour plumber”, etc.

A keyword research tool can be very useful, and you should employ it as a critical part of your keyword research. There are many such tools available in the market.

There is a free tool that is of great help as it can also generate keyword ideas for you as well as synonyms is Google’s Keyword Tool. It also cross references your keywords with geographic modifiers. This becomes very useful and effective in getting your business website ranked for strong keywords.

Alternatively, consider hiring a digital marketing firm to do it all for you. Besides building a list of long-tail keywords, your digital marketing expert can help you find out which specific keywords are most valuable. Plus, they can also gather intelligence on keywords that your competitors are using.

Document Data for Future Use

It is always good to keep records of everything you do. Archiving allows you access to past efforts or even use data for current or future projects. This is why it is wise to keep a tab on all the keywords that you discover. Also, it will reduce the need to repeat any keyword search.

The keywords will become very valuable to you. They can be used in every aspect of your digital marketing. This research that is done one-time and in the beginning, about your ideal client and what he or she searches, will be used in all your online content. You can use the keywords for the following:

    • Search Engine Optimization
    • Social Media
    • Ads
    • Videos
    • Audios
    • Articles
    • Blogs
    • Press Releases
    • Tags

Use a couple or more keywords from your keyword list every month. Just by simply adding one or more traffic methods to your existing traffic generating strategies can produce significant results.

How To Promote A Business Online - Start With Doing On Page SEO

Do Onsite Search Engine Optimization Updates

This is a one-time activity that will that will transform your business website significantly. Your site will be changed from its current state to a search engine-optimized version that will be very attractive to web crawlers.

It is a very important step that gets your business website ranked as high as possible in search engine results. Many website owners are not aware that while some features on a website may look aesthetically pleasing, they may not be appealing to a search engine. In fact, some of these fancy programming can be detrimental as they can produce negative results from search engines.

Analyze What You Have

First of all, you must analyze your current business website. Check the following items:

    • The look and feel of your business website; for example does it reflect the type of industry your business is in?
    • Is it attractive to your target audience? Etc.
    • Is your business website optimized for visitors?
    • Is your business website optimized for search engines?
    • Does your site work for multiple browsers?

These days, more and more people surf the Internet on their mobile phones. The small screen on a mobile phone does present some problems with viewing the content of a website. To meet this need, many websites are now done with responsive web design.

This is a form of design that provides optimal viewing experience for the user. Websites with responsive web design adapts the layout according to the device used. As such, here is one more item for your checklist:

Is your website with responsive web design?

Critical Components of a Good Website

Over the years, when we did audits of many a website, we did discover many critical components missing. It is quite disappointing to find some web creators not providing their best for their clients, or perhaps they too are not aware of these critical components. Nevertheless, do know that these components are essential for the success of your business website.

They will make your business website appealing not only to visitors but also search engines. Go through this list and make sure all are in place. If not, include them immediately for the best results.

Easy Navigation

A website that is easy to use will encourage your visitor to stay a little longer and explore the site. Keep the navigation straightforward; for example, clear menu options that are always displayed at the same location on every web page.

Vital Information ‘Above The Fold’

Not everyone will bother to scroll down, go to a next page, or click on a link to another page unless you made it so enticing for them to from the home page. So it is best to place all the important information on the home page for the visitor.

All Links Working

It is frustrating to visitors and search engines when a link is broken. Make sure all links are working well at all times.

Home Page, Products Page, Services Page, Testimonials, About Page and Contact Form

Do ensure that, at the very least, all these pages exist on your business website, and filled with useful and timely content.

Lead Visitors Through The Site

Once you captured your visitor’s attention, lead them to where you want them to go on your site. Do this in order to eventually have them make a purchase.

Specific Instructions

Be specific with any instructions on any page on your business website.

Multiple Calls To Action

Encourage your visitors to take action throughout your site. Of course, do it elegantly. Don’t be loud, or scream at your audience, or be tacky. Use motivating words like ‘Call now’, ‘Buy now’, etc.

Pictures Used Correctly

Pictures should match the content. Better if it provides explanation of the content. After all, a picture tells a thousand words. Using pictures correctly includes proper sizing of pictures as well as captions for it.

Non-Distracting Design

The design should not distract the visitor from the content, unless the design is the content. For example, do not use animated background that is too distracting. Also, keep the fonts simple and standard. Do not use funny looking fonts, try to avoid italics, and preferably do not underline any text.

Dark Text On A Light Background

Studies have found that people find it easy to read when the text is dark and the background is of a light color. Keep that in mind, and make it standard on your business website.

Multiple Ways To Contact

A contact number and/or email address should be available on every page, discreetly and elegantly positioned at the same area. This makes it easy for the visitor should he or she decides to contact you.

Trust Factors

Your business website is the best place to showcase your trust certificates and awards. If possible, find a way to highlight this on your home page. If not, have at least a link to web page that features these.

Testimonials

Nowadays, testimonials are displayed on the home page, especially websites with responsive web design. Some even make the testimonials displayed using a slideshow. Testimonials are a great way to build trust for your brand. When visitors see what others have to say about your brand, they feel confident to do business with you.

Personal Branding

As discussed in Your Simple Digital Marketing Plan chapter, a strong brand is a valuable asset. Besides a logo and a slogan, there are many other elements that make up your brand.

For example, in your About Us section of your website, pictures of you, the management, and your staff communicates who you are, as a brand, to your audience. Other forms of communicating your brand include branding vehicles, online videos, audios, social media, and many more.

Optimization for Keywords

I have said it before, and I will say it again for I believe repetition to be a good learning style. You must take the time and effort to do keyword research. This is so that your keywords are optimized properly.

Using good keywords is a huge plus for search engines. For example, one way of using your keywords is to have them in your business website with title tags, meta tags, the URL, the headers and description of a web page.

Also, ensure that all the text on your business website is search engine-optimized with strategic use of keywords. At the same time, beware of duplicate content. This can have detrimental effect on search results of your website.

Relevancy

Search engines love it when websites contain content that has relevance to the main subject of the website. You can create relevancy by starting broad, and then drilling down within themes. Tip: Always optimize for one keyword per page. Don’t do it for multiple keywords per page.

Lastly, Avoid Flash and Frames

These do not add any value to your business website, especially when optimizing for search engines.

By now, with the implementation of the above critical components, your business website should naturally move closer to the top of search engine results.

But a word of caution here. Do not just rely on this alone.

You need to also implement the other tasks in your digital marketing plan; for example, maintaining a blog, regular updates on social networks, implementing other Web 2.0 applications, submitting articles with links back to your site in order to increase traffic, building quality one-way links, etc.

There are two more one-time tasks to discuss, and it will be in the second part of this article. It is in two parts because having all the information in one part is too long, and I have had feedback that it is too much to read at one go.

How To Promote A Business Online? – Your Simple Digital Marketing Plan – Part Five

How To Promote A Business Online with a Simple Digital Marketing Plan

How To Promote A Business Online? – Your Simple Digital Marketing Plan – Part Five

As with most things in life, to achieve success, the best way is to have a good and effective plan. It is the same with Digital Marketing. You must have a structured and scheduled plan, know exactly what needs to be done, and work through it in order for your online marketing efforts to have successful results.

Here is a Simple Digital Marketing Plan for you:

Your Target Audience

How To Promote A Business Online by Finding Your Target Audience

First, you need to identify who are your ideal customers. They will be part of your target audience. Get into their minds, think like them, and figure out what keywords they would use to search for products, services and businesses like yours. Better still, if you can do a simple survey, and ask people (friends and family can work too) for the keywords they will use in a search.

Branding

Next, commit to Building Your Brand Online. A strong brand is very important, and becomes a valuable asset to your business. For customers, when choosing a product or service, they naturally will gravitate towards a brand that is strong, and also preferably one they are familiar with. To them a strong and familiar brand reduces the risk of a purchase, and is a promise of quality and trust.

One of the tools to build your brand is your business website. These days, a website is like an online brochure. It sits on a specific space on the Internet, waiting for people to drop by and have a look. So do make efforts to have an attractive, well-designed, well laid out, and professional looking website. And of course, your content must be engaging, and motivates them to dive further or take action and make a purchase.

*** TIP! Don’t forget to set up an autoresponder on your website, and build an email list.

Search Engine Optimization aka SEO

SEO Tactic on how to get Backlinks by Digital Marketing Consultant Singapore

After your website is done, you have to have Search Engine Optimization going to draw traffic to your website. I will not repeat this information as it was already discussed in the earlier post –  How To Promote A Business Online? – 6 Things You Should be Doing – Part 2. Please click on the link to learn more about SEO, and why it is one of the many strategies you must be using to have success with your internet marketing efforts.

Social Media

Also, discussed in that same post – How To Promote A Business Online? – 6 Things You Should be Doing – Part 2 – is Social Media. Again, I will not repeat the information because you can go to the post via the link to read all about it. Also, this will be further elaborated in a later part of this series.

Online Local Domination

How To Promote A Business Online using Online Local Domination

In addition to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media, you need to add the 4-point online domination to your internet marketing plan. Again, as mentioned in that article, the 4 points are local business results, natural search results, Pay Per Click results, and content results. These, including SEO and Social Media, will help to raise your ranking in the local business search results.

During our discussion on Online Local Domination, we touched on the topic of Pay-Per-Click Results. I would like to reiterate that this is one of the very powerful ways of reaching your target audience. Again, it is one of the fastest ways to get traffic to your site using targeted local keywords and geo-targeting generic keywords. Truly, a very valuable part of a digital marketing plan.

Directories Listings

Another item to add to your online marketing plan is for your business to be on all (or as many as possible) the online business directories. These directories are what Yellow Pages used to be for print media. It is one of the digital places where people are turning to in order to find a product or service.

To add your business to these online directories is easy (and often free). But don’t just list in a few. Every individual directory that you submit to is another chance to get found online, so it’s important to make sure you’re listed in every directory possible. Here is a List Of Directories to be listed on, most are FREE.

Being listed on online business directories does help a little with natural search results as you are getting links to your business website. In addition to directories, get tons of links to more local sites to get high natural search results. Another way of creating backlinks is to get into and participate in local discussion forums, especially forums that discuss topics related to your business. One more is to be listed on classified ad sites such as Craigslist.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is not new. It is a technique used in the past where professionals provide content to a newspaper or magazine on timely topics. Today, the same is done online. The difference is that business owners and marketers submit an article to a number of online article directories.

The article includes the author, job title, business name and contact information. Visitors to these directories who will then read your article, and this increases awareness of you and your brand.

This can also increase traffic to your business website when they are interested to find out more about your products and services. Also article directories with good web page ranks can strengthen your ranking with search engines.

Blogs

How to Promote Your Business Online? Blogging creates fresh content that Google Loves!

Blogs have gained a reputation as having the potential to boost your SEO rankings. By using long-tail keywords, you can push your business website up the rankings of search results. So it is good to have a blog on your business website.

But before you make this one of your to-dos in your digital marketing plan, you have to be sure you have the time and resources to keep updating the blog. It is the same with social media updates. If you don’t have the time or resources, do consider outsourcing this to your digital marketing partner.

Online Video

How to Promote Your Business Online? Use Online Videos, they are the future of Digital Marketing

Also mentioned in the 6 Things You Should Be Doing article is the fact that Online Video is the next wave in digital marketing. So add this to your online marketing plan, and get aesthetically pleasing and professional videos done. Then upload them to your website as well as video sites such as Vimeo and YouTube.

Internet Audio

Internet Audio, like online video, can help to raise awareness, and spread word about your brand, products, services and business. And similar to online video, upload them to your business website and distribute them on local audio and podcast sites.

Press Releases

Press Releases were originally designed as a communication tool between a company PR or public relations firms and the media. Now, Online Press Releases are effectively used as a direct to media as well as direct to consumer communication tool. Submit your press releases to progressive wire services, like PR Newswire or PRWeb, to receive maximum exposure for your brand.

Data, Analytics & Tracking

How to Promote A Business Online - Data & Analytics can help Test and Track your Marketing Efforts

An essential part of your digital marketing plan is to test and track your marketing efforts. For example, how much traffic is going to your business website and from where? Are visitors being converted, and where did they originate from? How did your keywords rank? These are some of the useful information you can gather from analytics that can help you further modify and optimize your internet marketing plan.

What’s Next?

It is rare that a digital marketing plan is perfect. With analytics, you can figure out what works, and what does not work. Or maybe it is not that it is not working. If so, then changes need to be made so as to make that your marketing efforts successful.

This is all the tips for a simple Digital Marketing Plan. Of course, the plan can be expanded into a more sophisticated version that can take your business to the next level. For a start, consider the points above, and start thinking about your basic Online Marketing efforts that can lead to your business success.

I wish everyone great success in their businesses.

How To Promote A Business Online? – Digital Marketing Audit – Part Four

How To Promote A Business Online - Do A Digital Marketing Audit

Audit Your Current Digital Marketing Efforts (if any)

Before we discuss about creating your new Digital Marketing Plan, let us do a simple audit of your past online marketing efforts (if you have any so far). Let us look at what has been done previously for your business on the Internet; for example your website, any social media network, blog, etc.

Let us be thorough, and evaluate your current online presence so that you can see where you are at. Only then can we create a good and effective digital marketing plan for you to know where you want your business to be, how successful you want your business to be, and what needs to be done to achieve that.

Assess Current Digital Marketing Checklist

How To Promote A Business Online - Do A Digital Marketing Audit
Do A Digital Marketing Audit

Here is a checklist for you to assess your current internet marketing (if you have any):

  • How do you currently market your company?
  • How do you currently promote your online presence?
  • Why are you thinking of putting a digital marketing in place?
  • Have you spent any money on advertisements?
  • Which media are these advertisements on?
  • Are the advertisements on these media working?
  • Have you used Pay-Per-Click ads in before?
  • Do you have a business website?
  • What techniques do you currently use to drive traffic to your website?
  • How much are you spending each month to get that traffic?
  • How many unique visitors does your business website get per month?
  • How many enquiries do you get from those that visit your website?
  • What percentage of revenue currently comes from leads generated by the Internet? And from which platform?
  • How many sales/leads do you get per month from your website?
  • What is the current value of your average sale? What is the average revenue per sale? What is the average profit per sale?
  • How many current customers do you have?
  • How many of these current customers bought your products and/or services?
  • How often does a customer buy from you? (get full statistics and average)
  • Do you regularly keep in touch with your customers? If yes, how do you do it? And how often?
  • Is your business capable of exponential growth?
  • Are your sales team trained?
  • Does your sales team receive training regularly?
  • What type of training does your sales team undergo?

The above checklist is just a guideline. You might think of more questions to help with the audit. By the end of this exercise, you should have a pretty good report card on the overall health of your current Digital Marketing Plan. And you should know if it is working or not. Also, you will uncover some missing pieces as well as potential growth for your business.

Current Digital Marketing Plan Audit

How To Promote A Business Online using Checklists for your Digital Marketing Audit
Checklists for your Digital Marketing Audit

It is also good to conduct an audit of your current digital marketing plan for each of your line (if you do have any):

  • Do you use Email List Building on your website?
  • Do you use Search Engine Optimization? Especially to be displayed on the first page of natural search results?
  • Are you on any social media platform? Which ones?
  • How often do you post on each social media platform?
  • How many fans and followers do you have on each social media platform?
  • What is the increase rate of fans and followers on each social media platform?
  • Do you engage with your fans and followers on each social media platform? Do they engage with you?
  • Do you do any form of advertising on these social media platforms?
  • Do you target Local Business Results on Google?
  • Have you registered your business with local online business directories?
  • Do you use article marketing?
  • Do you have a blog on your business website?
  • How often do you post on the blog?
  • Do you have people following your blog?
  • Do people engage you on your blog?
  • Do you have videos on your business website?
  • Do you place videos on video sites such as Vimeo and YouTube to promote your business website?
  • Do you use online Press Releases?
  • Do you use Pay-Per-Click advertising?
  • Do you test and track your website as well as all other digital platforms?
  • Do you use online Classified Ads sites?
  • Do you use online Local Forums?
  • Do you use Audio Marketing on your site, and also syndicate the audio on other popular sites?

Most of the above checklist should be done for each of your product lines or services you carry. When the checklist items are in place, you will be more effective at marketing your business on the digital space.

While you may attract them to your business website, your emails, Pay-Per-Click campaign, landing pages, content on classified ads sites and local forums, online videos, online audios, articles and blogs should be tailored to each market accordingly.

The term sounds ominous, doesn’t it? In fact, some people have said that maybe it would sound better if named as Online Local Authority. It doesn’t really matter what is the name given, what matters is that this is the state of being that you would like your business to be in. It is when you have become the Number One Authority for your local market on the Internet. It is a sign that your business has become a huge success.

This distinction is earned when your business was previously unheard and unseen on the Internet, and then became visible online virtually everywhere. This title is given to you when your business is frequently listed on the first page of local search results, organic search results and Pay-Per-Click campaigns. Also, you would have received numerous consumer reviews, more than any other local business in your market.

At this stage, your business would consistently be the most popular one on any type of online search. Wherever people look, they see your brand, and they will quickly come to recognize that you are the authority in your field. They will consider you as the best in your industry, and will prefer to do business with you.

After all, we all want to do business with the best, don’t we?

When you achieve Online Local Domination, your business is the easily found business of its type in a given local area. In addition, your business is always at the top of local search results, normal search results and geo-targeted generic results. When your business can be found at the top of normal search results without any indication of an area, you have reached a higher level than Online Local Domination. And this is better, much better. But that’s another topic for another day.

To be the master of local online search results, you need to understand how the searches work. Also, you need to understand what are the different keywords that individuals use when they search for businesses similar to yours. With this better understanding, you can apply different and more effective digital marketing techniques that can help your business to be listed at the top of search engine results, or at least on the first page of it.

To be on the first page of online search results is where you need your business to be.

Important Note:

91.5% of people who does online search will choose a business from those listed on the first page.

Of course, it is so much more better when you are able to be in the top 3 listed on the first page of online search results. This raises the chances of getting prospective clients to your web site. Businesses that are not in the first page or top 3 ranking are losing out a lot of business.

Professional digital marketers know how to get a business to that Number One spot of a search result, for local keywords in Google. They have the knowledge and skill to do it. Plus, most local keywords have very little competition because not many businesses are doing it. Therefore, this state of being – Online Local Domination – is ripe and easily available for anyone with the knowledge and skill to achieve.

4-Point Online Domination

To achieve Online Local Domination, there is a 4-Point Online Domination technique that can make it happen. Start doing this today and you can be the one in your industry that dominates the Internet locally. Here is the 4-Point Online Domination:

  • Local Business Results (Google My Business)
  • Natural Search Results
  • PPC Results
  • Content Results

Local Search Results – Google My Business

How To Promote A Business Online using Online Local Domination - Have a Google My Business account that can help you rank higher on search results
Be on Google My Business

In order to achieve online domination, one of the criteria is to be highly visible and prominent on local search results. You can achieve this with Google My Business.

Playing hard to get may be good for dating, but it is bad for business. When people search for businesses using keywords, there are often map listings at the top of natural search results. You must do all you can to get your business listed there. One of the ways would be to ensure that your business is listed for a variety of keyword phrases. Don’t forget variations of these keyword phrases as well as your business name.

Another way, more powerful and sure, is to have a Google My Business account. You will be surprised to know that even businesses that don’t have a website can get listed on Google My Business. These businesses use Google My Business to post articles about their business and related topics, videos and other information that will be interesting to their community.

Google My Business is an important tool for business owners. You can put the right information about your business on Search, Maps and Google+ so that customers can get in touch with you. You just need to understand how to use it successfully to market and grow your business online.

It is important to know that Google’s local search algorithm considers 3 major factors when determining where to rank your business, what terms to rank it for, and how high to rank it relative to other businesses. The 3 major factors are:

1.  Relevance

Of course, a match to keywords searching for your business name will be most relevant, and can result in top ranking on search results. But what about natural searches done by people who do not know your business name?

For example, when someone searches for a bakery in Seoul, Korea, then the search results will only show bakeries in that area, not other types of businesses. A bakery that has the right keywords and a Google My Business account will rank higher than other bakeries in that area, too.

2.  Prominence

This factor looks at how popular and well known your business is. Google considers backlinks, mentions of your business on other websites, and social media. The latter is becoming an increasing Prominence factor. Regular (and relevant) status updates, number of likes and comments, and even mention of your social media pages are critical. Businesses that know this are wisely getting on the social media networks, and hiring and leveraging the expertise of a digital marketer to manage them.

3.  Distance

This factor is the only one of the three that you can least affect or influence to help you with your search results ranking. It simply considers the general location as entered by people, if they do enter a location in their search keywords. If not, then Google will look at the distance between the person doing the search and local businesses nearby, and offer a list of search results based on that.

One digital marketing technique to enhance your search results ranking is to pay for Search Ads on Google. This will place your listing at the top of the search result page, with a little green ‘Ad’ icon. On Google Maps, your business will be shown within the info cards beneath the search box, and on the map.

One of the keys to market online successfully with Google My Business is to complete the profile completely, accurately, and regularly. Invite customers to review your business as this is vital for search rankings. Plus, it is always useful to listen to what your customers are saying about your products and services, and find out how you can improve them to better serve your customers and attract new ones.

Natural Search Results

When a search is done on the Internet, a list of website and web pages relevant to that search will be shown on the search results. Sometimes, there would be sponsored ads and local search results at the higher portion of the first page listing. After that, would be the natural search results.

Due to the way natural search is done by search engines, you must pay attention to the use of keywords because they are all commonly found ranked in natural search results. Here are some ways to use keywords:

  • Articles
  • Off-site blogs
  • Press releases
  • Social networking profiles
  • Social bookmarking profiles

Pay-Per-Click Results

Pay-Per-Click is a form of advertising online that directs traffic to websites. Advertisers pay the publisher only when the ad is clicked by people. You can buy Pay-Per-Click ads from search engines, and have your business listed at the very top of search results.

Like all advertising, the copy of the advertisement is important. A well written advertisement that is captivating with words that encourage people to click it can bring you great results and conversion of visitors to customers. It is wise to hire expert and experienced copywriters who know how to get this job done for you well.

Do note that you must have a budget for Pay-Per-Click ads. Monitor the spending of this budget. After an advertising campaign, it is good to review the results, and then create and execute a strategy for a new advertising campaign that can bring you even better results.

There are business owners who may be reluctant to spend on online advertising. Perhaps they have spent on advertising before and never saw any results. What they don’t realize is this is very different from advertising on traditional media. Advertising on newspapers or magazines often result in a lot of wastage. A lot of money is spent, and they don’t reach your target audience.

But online advertising is different and more efficient. It is a form of targeted advertising. For example, if your business sells stationery in an area called Redhill, and someone types ‘stationery Redhill’ in a search box. Your ad will appear at the top of the list. You have just reached your target audience. This is one of the fastest ways to get traffic to your site, and is a very valuable part of digital marketing strategies.

Content Results

How To Promote A Business Online using Online Local Domination - Content Is King! There's no denying it. Quality Content can get your site ranking on 1st Page of search engines
Content Is King!

One of the signs that you have achieved Online Local Domination is when your business website, web pages and content are at the top of search results based on your keywords. For example, someone does a search using a keyword that you are using in your digital marketing strategy, and that person arrives at a page of search results that ranks your website as number one, your online video as number two, your social media network (page or content) as number three, and your press release as number five, you know you have achieved Online Local Domination.

Chances are the searcher will acknowledge that you are an expert in that industry, in that business, and would most likely choose you for his or her needs.

Getting results like that is relatively easy, especially in the hands of an expert digital marketer. All it would take is to get your content out there with social media, Web 2.0 applications, online articles, press releases, videos, apply Search Engine Optimization, and many other digital marketing techniques, and you will find it the norm for your business to be always listed at multiple places of search results.

Remember this 4-point online domination model. Use it wisely and use it well. And for sure, you will be able to achieve the exceptional results that you have expected.
