Staying in Your Comfort Zone

We often admire others. Sometimes, it’s an admiration of their beauty. Sometimes, it’s an admiration of their success and wealth.

The question is why many just admire? Why don’t people do something about acquiring wealth and success? Or worse, get distressed about it?

Over the years, I have met many people who have behaved as such. And after speaking with them, I realized that most are unwilling to change their situations.

One of the common reasons is that they are too comfortable where they are currently at. The comfort zone is a dangerous thing.

It makes you afraid to try new things. This is all right when things are good. But when fortunes change for the worse, it can be dangerous.

For example, I teach business subjects. And I have students who have either lost their jobs, about to lose their jobs, or seeking a way to earn a side income.

And yet, when I suggest starting an online business, such as affiliate marketing, they are either reluctant or hesitant. There are those who would rather still find a job.

The sad thing is, because of the covid pandemic, they lost their jobs or are about to lose it. And also, because of the covid pandemic, there are fewer job opportunities. And yet, they are not willing to consider the alternative of doing an online business.

And there are those students who say they want to start an online business to earn side income. When I give them the options, which include affiliate marketing, they are also unwilling to do it.

Just Do It

I do understand how they feel and where they are coming from. This is because I, too, in the past, were like them.

I, too, was too comfortable with a job and getting paid monthly a fixed salary. After going through 3 economic downturns, I realized that there is no job security anymore.

For a while, I was still hesitant. I was not sure how to do it. Then I realized that the lack of knowledge could be easily solved by taking courses, and learning how.

Ultimately, I realized it was me stopping me. And, to overcome that problem, I simply had to Just Do It!
