As a reader of my blog, you would know that I am constantly finding ways to create passive income. Or at least a side hustle. In an article I wrote here, I mentioned about doing online surveys as one of the ways to make money online.

Today, I would like to discuss with you one such company offering to pay you to do online surveys. I share with you this information – iPoll (Formerly SurveyHead) Review – Scam or Legit?

iPoll used to be Survey Head. Survey Head started in 2008. And in 2016, it was acquired by Survey Sampling International.

It started as a survey website. People join, and take part in surveys about products and services. And when they fulfill the criteria as well as complete the surveys, they get paid.

Today, as iPoll, you can also do their surveys on a mobile phone using the iPoll app. The surveys are market research for brands. Besides surveys, members can earn income by product testing, too.

iPoll is free to join, provided you fulfill the criteria (see above pre-requisites).

To join iPoll, you must be at least 17 years of age.

Also, iPoll is not open to all countries. They have a list of countries that can join them. Do check this out before you sign up with them.

I live in Singapore, and found out that I cannot join iPoll. When I scrolled down to the bottom of their home page, I clicked on the link to Singapore. I was then brought to a page that informed me that iPoll is not available in Singapore.

You will need to create an account with iPoll. You can do it on their website or using their mobile app. If you choose the latter, you will need to download the iPoll app. It is free on Apple and Android phones.

When you sign up with iPoll. You will need to provide your email address, and choose a password.

On the next screen, fill out a short form. You will be asked to give your name, address, and other details to understand your demographic. This information will help them know what surveys to give you to do.

Then you will be asked a few more questions. These questions are to match you with the surveys available. So, do answer as accurately as possible. The better you provide your information, the better you are matched to surveys that you can make money from.

There are a few ways to make money from iPoll.

You can go to the iPoll website or use the iPoll app to do online surveys. Every survey has eligibility requirements. You must check if you fulfill the requirements before taking the survey.

When you qualify, you just go through the survey. Answer the questions given. After you complete, you will earn some income.

This is another way to make money from iPoll. Missions are jobs to be done at a specific retail location. It is available only on the iPoll mobile app. this is because they need to verify your location via GPS through their app.

Mission tasks can be quite fun. It can be as simple as visiting a store, or taking photos of the store, or even testing products. After you have completed the mission, some money will be added to your account.

You can earn money that you can cash out, or gift cards. Every time you complete a survey or a mission task, some money will be added to your account.

The amount earned varies from survey to survey. Some pay as low as $0.50. Some pay around $3.00. It all depends on the brand.

You will need reach the minimum payment threshold before you can cash out the money. And that minimum amount is $50. You can get paid via Paypal.

No business is perfect. Every brand will have its fair share of complaints.

But, when I started to research on iPoll, I was shocked to see so many bad feedback from past members.

Many users have reported that they are not getting paid. Some said they have problems especially getting paid through the iPoll app.

If you are doing this as regular income to rely on for your daily or monthly expenses, then this is a big problem. There are so many users who has taken to the Internet to complain about the length of time it takes to get paid by iPoll.

They said that the payment takes very slow. It can take as long as 1 month for the money to reach you. One user shared on Site Jabber that it took them 6 weeks to pay him or her.

The minimum payment threshold of $50 may not seem high. But when you take into account the very low rate earned per survey, it becomes very high. Users have reported that it takes a very long time to achieve that $50 payment threshold.

Many users have found that they do not qualify for a lot of the surveys. This makes earning money not easy. Also, when you cannot take part in surveys, how are you going to reach the minimum payment threshold as quick as you can?

To take part in a survey, you need to answer a lot of questions. This is to see if you qualify for the survey. And after you complete the long list of questions, you will have to wait for some time to get the approval.

At the bottom of their website is a list of countries. You must click the country to get to the sign up page. And if iPoll is not available in your country, you will not get to sign up. You will end up on a page that says “The survey panel you are looking for has been shut down.”

I clicked on a few countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and few more. iPoll is not available in these countries. So, if you are considering iPoll, I suggest you search for other ways to make money. See my #1 Recommendation further down this article.

Many users have reported that the app freezes or crashes often. This is not good. Imagine doing a survey or mission half way, and all the hard work you have done is gone. You will not earn a single cent.

This is a suspicious activity. Users have shared that their account got suspended or terminated. Many have noticed that when they are reaching the cashout minimum, their account suddenly gets suspended or terminated.

Many users submitted reviews of how poor the support is at iPoll. They mentioned that it is difficult to get helpful responses.

VERDICT: Scam

The company is a legitimate business. Unfortunately, some of the practices have made it look like a scam.

Imagine working hard, and spending your precious time on surveys, and then have your account suspended. Or worse, get terminated. All that time and effort lost. You could have used it for better things.

Also, I have learned from past experience that earning from online surveys is not very profitable. I tried it before. There was even an online survey in Singapore that I tried.

After hours of hard work, I received nothing. This was because it was difficult reaching the minimum payment threshold. And this seems to be the same for iPoll.

Another reason I would advise against iPoll is that the payout is very little. So much time and effort spent just for so little money. I am sure your time and effort is worth much more, right?
