As such, I am now an Amazon Best Selling Author!

Learned How to Create an eBook

In a previous blog post, I shared about how I created an eBook with the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence).

It was fun.

It was easy.

It was all thanks to a wonderful, experienced author whose name is Mel Waller.

We are members of an online community.

When I decided to start writing again, while recovering from cancer and colostomy, I chanced upon Mel’s blog posts on that online community.

He wrote about being an author and the books he wrote.

I wrote him a private message to ask for his advice and guidance.

He then shared with me about a YouTube video he created that teaches people how to create an eBook and publish it on Amazon.

He gave me the link and I went to watch it.

Wrote the eBook in Less Than 2 Weeks

Mel’s video lesson was awesome!

He taught viewers everything they needed to know about writing an eBook and publishing it on Amazon.

He went even went through step by step how to do it, from start to finish.

So, I did it.

But with a little bit of help.

I got a bit of help from an AI (Artificial Intelligence) called ChatGPT.

I asked it to help me ‘think’ of humorous quotes.

It gave me that.

As I read the humorous quotes, I realized they sounded like excuses.

I then discussed it with ChatGPT, and it agreed that they do look like excuses.

Then I had an idea.

Instead of humorous quotes, why not write a book about humorous excuses.

Again, I worked with ChatGPT to come up with a good title for the book.

Then I did all the hard work.

I put it all together into a manuscript.

I wrote the introduction and author bio.

After that, I was ready to publish it.

Published eBook on Amazon

With my manuscript done, I was ready to publish it on Amazon.

I turned to Mel’s training video for guidance.

The instructions were clear, and they taught me how to sign up with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

Next was the step to create an eBook.

Then there were all the fields that required information about the eBook that I was about to publish.

Mel’s video lesson gave step by step guidance on each field and how to complete it with information required.

At the step where it was required to upload the manuscript, I uploaded mine.

For the book cover, there was the choice to upload a book cover that I had designed or use the Amazon KDP’s Cover Creator to design it.

At that point of time, I had not designed a book cover.

So, I relied on Amazon KDP to help me create one.

And here is how it looked like.

I know.

It could be better.

Which was why, a week later, after all the dust had settled, I created my own book cover using Canva.

And here is how the book cover looked like now.

Straight Up the Best Seller List

After I published the book on Amazon, I was so happy.

To me, it was such an achievement already.

I blogged about it on the online community site and informed Mel, too.

A day later, to my pleasant surprise, Mel had taken it upon himself to track the progress of my eBook.

And he proudly announced to me that it made it to #16 on the Amazon Best Seller list!
