Email Marketing
Email marketing is a form of Direct Marketing.
This digital marketing strategy uses electronic mail sent to your target audience.
The emails can be sent for various purposes. One of the purposes is to welcome any new sign ups to your business. Another is to nurture a relationship with those who signed up.
Customer loyalty is built over time, and that leads to new purchases and repeat sales. Emails can be also sent like ‘cold calls’.
These types of emails are like advertisements, promoting a product or service with the intent to get the recipient interested in a service or product.
Advantages of Email Marketing
There was a time when Email Marketing was thought on its death throes. That was mainly due to the very unpopular spam.
But today, like a phoenix from the ashes, Email Marketing has become a very popular strategy.
This is mostly because the technique has improved over the years. And more importantly, the Return on Investment (ROI) can be tracked.
Today, Email Marketing is the second most effective online marketing tactic.
The other advantage of Email Marketing is that it can reach out to a substantial number of email subscribers. The subscribers are interested in the topic communicated to them, and have given permission to receive emails.
Almost everyone uses email. Whether to communicate on a personal level with friends and loved ones or for business purposes. And they check emails every day.
So, chances of emails sent to them to promote a product or service is high, especially when they have opted in.
With emails, your business can customized messages to your target audience. You can, and should, personalize your messages, making your communication relevant to them.
And this is very powerful.
Emails can also enable recipients to respond immediately. For example, to sign up for events, to make purchases, and even revive abandoned carts.
Disadvantages of Email Marketing
The main disadvantage of Email Marketing is that the emails can be seen as spam or junk by the email program that the subscriber uses. And this can result in the email being thrown into the spam or junk folder.
As a result, all the efforts to reach out to the recipient will be wasted since most people do not really look into the spam or junk folder.
One way around this is to have the opt in function. This is where the subscriber gives permission to the sender to send emails to them.
Also, most businesses now inform the subscriber to look into the spam or junk folder first time round. And request that they move the email back to the Inbox folder as well as add the send email address to the Address Book.
This way, the email program will see future emails received as approved and not spam.
The Email Sales Funnel
Emails can help businesses to close sales. The other Digital Marketing Strategies drive traffic to your business website.
Once visitors arrive at your website, your job is to have a sign up form for those interested in your product or service to register and be part of your Email List.
This can be done using Email Marketing Automation Tools (see section below).
After consumers have subscribed, you must build and nurture a relationship with them. Send regular emails that are contextualized and relevant to the topic they are interested in.
As you nurture this relationship, your subscribers begin to trust you. After trust is established, you can start to promote your services or products.
But be careful here. Some people do not like hard sell.
So, tread carefully. There are techniques on how to do this right, and I will share more in my Blog in the near future.
Email Marketing Automation Tools
Email Marketing can be quite a tedious task if done manually. Thankfully, there are many automation tools in the market that can help your business manage the entire Email Marketing process.
These automation tools are very easy to use. All you have to do is sign up for the service.
Some are free. Some are paid.
Some are free for a trial period or for a limited number of subscribers, like Systeme, MailChimp, GetResponse, Aweber, etc.
The list of Email Marketing Automation Tools are quite a lot. Just do a Google search, and you will find a long list.
Personally, I use Systeme. I find it quite easy to use, and quite powerful. They are constantly improving the service. You can learn more about this time-saving marketing automation tool in my blog post below.
Of course, Email Marketing is so much more than just the above. I will cover more about it in future posts.

Content Marketing
Huge Growth Potential for Your Business.
It is a digital marketing strategy where businesses have potential clients find their content and see great value in it. By then, most of the selling is done.
When the prospect contacts the business, they are already convinced that the business is the one they wish to work with or purchase a product or service from.
Take note from the above that there is hardly any high pressure sales tactics. In fact, most of the time, there is hardly any sales tactic when doing Content Marketing.
This is because the trust has been built.
When done well and correctly, the Return on Investment (ROI) can be phenomenal.
Content Marketing is Good for SEO
Content Marketing provides additional content for all other Digital Marketing Strategies. In fact, aligned with the theme I am advocating now. And that is that SEO encompasses all Digital Marketing Strategies.
What this means is that SEO must play a part in all digital marketing strategies. As such, it can be considered that Content Marketing is a part of SEO.
For example, good content can be built on a business website that generates natural inbound links that is good for SEO.
The same quality content can be used for Social Media Marketing. This can produce strong social signals, which is also good for SEO.
Along the same lines, the content on social media can drive traffic to a business website as well as generate natural inbound links that contributes to the SEO efforts.
I am sure you can see where I am going with this?
One of the good SEO tactics is to create good and quality content. Then apply Content Marketing that will boost SEO efforts. This can result in higher ranking for your website, drive more traffic, and boost brand awareness and sales.
Why Does Content Marketing Work So Well?
A customer buying process basically starts with Awareness. The customer has a need. The question is – what is the solution to that need?
When the consumer becomes aware that there are solutions available, they start to do Research. They start looking around, trying to find that solution. They educate themselves on options, and find the one most suitable to meet their needs.
This brings us to the next step – Consideration. At this point, the consumer compares all the products or services that offers the solution. They compare points like features, pricing, etc.
This to make sure they get what they believe is the best quality product or service at the right price. Then they make the decision and Purchase.
From this buying process, you can see that Content Marketing plays a major part in the first three steps – Awareness, Research and Consideration.
Having the content out there on the Internet, it facilitates getting the customer Aware of possible solutions. The content then plays a part in the Research phase by educating the consumer about a product or service.
And when the customer needs information to Consider if the product or service is suitable, the content is able to provide that.
Forms of Content for Content Marketing
Content comes in many forms. Here, I will mention a few that are more popular for use with Content Marketing.
The first, of course, will be web pages. And I am talking about web pages that have content that people find useful, informative and helpful.
When you offer content like this, people will come to your website in droves. They may visit your website with the original intent to get some help regarding some topic.
As a result, they gain awareness of your business and the products or services you offer.
Nowadays, Infographics are popular and great for converting complex ideas into simple graphics. The graphics are usually long and vertical containing useful information, charts and graphs.
This form of content is effective when consumers find it useful, and share it.
Video is the Future.
I have said it, and I will continue to say this. Videos are great for creating brand awareness, driving traffic to your website, and even boosting sales.
They are easy to consume, appeal to the senses, and engages the viewers’ emotions.
They can affirm credibility, expertise and branding.
These are just a few examples of the content that can be used for Content Marketing. There are plenty more to be considered.
Think about it.
Of course, Content Marketing is so much more than just the above. I will cover more about it in my Blog.
You need to do Content Marketing to create awareness of your brand and business. And drive traffic to your website. Eventually, to get sales and revenue.
I have written some articles about the different content marketing strategies such as Video Marketing, Blogging, and more. And I will continue writing more articles to help you succeed with your business.

Social Media Marketing
The Rise of Social Media Marketing
I am sure you have heard of Social Media by now.
And of course, Social Networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and more.
Businesses initially were unimpressed with social media. They saw it as a fad or something people use to entertain themselves. Not a digital marketing tool.
Over time, more and more people adopted at least one social network to connect themselves with friends, family and business associates. They formed communities using those networks.
Gradually, people began to use these social media for information and even news.
Businesses soon realized that their audience on traditional media is dwindling, and in order to reach out to their target audience, they too must do Social Media Marketing.
What is Social Media Marketing?
We have heard of Facebook Marketing, Twitter Marketing, Instagram Marketing, and so on.
So what is Social Media Marketing?
Well, basically, it is to have an account on a social network, and use the account to promote a business’ product or service.
But is that all?
Of course not.
Social Media Marketing includes updating the business social media page with relevant info that their fans and followers are interested in. And that is not just info about the business’ product or service.
It also includes topics related to the product and service that the fans and followers will appreciate.
In addition, Social Media Marketing requires the company to engage with the audience.
This is very important. The fans or followers have shown their interest in the product or service.
Now, the business must engage the audience by asking questions, answering any queries or comments, conduct polls to get a better understanding of the consumers, and so on.
Advertising on Social Media
Social networks responded to brands asking for ways to advertise, and offered ways for businesses to promote their products or services.
An example would be Facebook Advertising where businesses can advertise on Facebook to a defined target group.
The other social networks offered the same advertising tool as well as built-in data analytics tools to help companies to track the progress and engagement of their ad campaigns.
The tracking enables them to monitor and gauge if their ad campaigns are successful or not.
Social Media Strategy
Every business should spend some time to do a Digital Marketing Audit. From the audit, they can see which areas of the digital marketing efforts they are weak at, they are lacking or have done well.
Understanding that, they can then improve their Digital Marketing Plan, which includes the Social Media Strategy.
With a Social Media Strategy, the brand can maintain a strong social presence, which will strengthen its online presence. This will create an effective Social Media Strategy that can help the business to grow and be profitable.
In today’s world, you and your business must be on Social Media. And not just be on it. You have to be active on a social media platform.
This is because most people are using social media. As such, your brand needs to be on social media so that you can gain online visibility.
Online visibility will give you brand awareness and drive traffic to your website. When people know of your brand and your products, they can consider you as a choice for their consumption.
Ultimately, it all leads to getting sales and revenue.
I have written some articles about Social Media Marketing. And I will continue writing more articles to help you succeed with your business.

PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising
What is PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising?
Pay Per Click, or PPC as it is commonly known as, is a Digital Marketing strategy where advertisers pay every time an online advertisement is clicked on.
This includes Paid Search Ads, Display Network Ads, Social Media Advertising (for example Facebook Advertising, Instagram Advertising, Twitter Advertising, etc), Video Advertising, and Pay Per Click Remarketing.
The advertiser creates the advertisement and chooses a specific target audience. Then offers a specific bid amount for the advertisement to be delivered on the chosen media.
There are many factors that will determine if and when the advertisement is delivered to the specific target audience that the advertiser has chosen.
Bid Price
One of the factors is the bid amount. The way the advertising system works is it works on a bid auction system.
If the bid is too low, the advertisement may not get any online ‘airtime’. This means it will have lower chances of being delivered, and as such few or no one will see the advertisement.
Some may choose to bid high in order to have a greater chance of beating the competitive auction bids. And as such, have a higher chance of their advertisements being shown.
The problem with this is the organization will end up spending more than really necessary.
The best option is to bid at the optimal price where the ad spend is just right, and the advertisement still gets good visibility.
And what is just right?
This is where an experienced digital marketer makes the difference. With experience, the digital marketer will be able to determine the optimal bid for the optimal exposure for an advertisement.
I have to be honest and inform you that Pay Per Click Advertising is not easy to do. You need to know the ins and outs of it And also experience really helps
