Is entrepreneurship an art, a science or a practice? The Oxford dictionary states that entrepreneurship is a noun. And that it is “The activity of setting up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.”

So, it is an activity. And the activity is to set up and run a business. This, it makes sense that it takes practice. But I find it to be also an art and science.

To do a business, you will need to learn how to do it. And to do it right.

You can take a degree in business to learn all the principles, methods, and even steps to do it. This is why there are universities and business schools that conduct such courses. And even workshops, seminars and short executive courses to upgrade that knowledge.

For example, to do an online business, you need to learn how to do it correctly. Sure, you can give it a try. Learn through trial and error. But it can be time consuming. More importantly, it can be costly.

When I decided to start my first online business, I attended workshops and seminars. My goal was to learn from others who have done it successfully. And, this can help my online business to be successful, too.

I have attended courses on how to do private label, FBA (Fulfilment by Amazon), drop shipping, Shopify ecommerce, and others. After learning, I tried them all.

It was a good thing I did that. I soon learned that I prefer Affiliate Marketing. This is because I desire to earn income passively. I prefer not to deal with inventory, shipping, and especially issues from customers.

With affiliate marketing, I simply promote a product. When a consumer makes a purchase, I earn a commission.

Besides the science of running a business, it is also an art form. As you do it, you gain experience, and you refine the way you do things. The way becomes an art of doing it.

For example, there are many ways to use your affiliate links to get sales. How you can do it so that you can optimize the number of sales, and earn high profits becomes an art.

As you continue to do affiliate marketing, you learn more of how to get more sales. And you try each of these methods.

You soon discover the ones that generate the most sales. Then you focus on those methods, and you think of ways to improve and optimize them more in order to raise the amount of sales you will get. This is an art.

As you can see, with both entrepreneurship as a science or an art, you will definitely need to practice what you have learned. With practice, your business grows and becomes more and more successful. You get more sales and higher profits.

It is the same with all businesses. From the start to part where you are growing your business, you need to practice doing it.

You need to practice what you’ve learned from the science. And practice what you’ve experienced from the art.

Before you can start to practice, you will need to learn the science of doing a business. From my experience, I have found that besides education, you will need the right tools to grow your business in order to make it successful.
